Upping the ante: Florida Judge gives green light to red light cameras; renewed interest in counter-measures? Probably
Wednesday, August 17, 2011: Months after another judge called into question the validity of redlight camera tickets (compared to officer-written tickets), a Broward County Judge has given them a green light; likely to encourage towns to keep the cameras.
Judge Steven P. DeLuca ruled Wednesday there's nothing unconstitutional about the cameras. Since 2007 when the cameras started photographing "red light runners," numerous violators have take their tickets to court ... and had their cases thrown out.
DeLuca's ruling, will probably embolden cities where some officials aruge that the tickets are too costly to defend in court.
It will probably renew interest in the various counter-measures various companies are peddling too.
