Helmet-less motorcyclist, Philip Contos, dies protesting helmet law
Contos was riding a 1983 Harley Davidson with a group of protestors, when he abruptly hit the brakes causing his bike to fishtail. The bike spun and Contos flew over the handlebars.
A state police reportedly claimed that based on the evidence at the scene, he would have likely surived, if he had been wearing a helmet.
The protest was organized by the Onondaga chapter of ABATE - the American Bikers Aimed Towards Education (ABATE).
